Before considering either sponsoring or adopting any of our sentients in care, please read the below passage to clarify the strict differences. While both TWHEW and all of our animals in care appreciate the interest that we receive regarding sponsorship and adoptions, it is very important that the differences between the two are made clear. Sponsoring an animal in TWHEW's care (which can range from $2 a week to full sponsorship at $50 a week) does not grant sponsors any special privileges with regards to the animals that they have chosen to sponsor. Sponsored sentients remain on-site at TWHEW's Portarlington property and under the care of the sanctuary. Sponsoring is a way in which a supporter's donation can be specified to the care of a specific animal/s, without taking he/she off of the property (this can tend to be the best way to support our horses in palliative care that will live the rest of their days with us at TWHEW). To find out about who is in need of weekly sponsorship, see Sponsorship needed or look through the individual profiles of our current sentients in care at WH horses or Other WH critters. To follow up a request to sponsor, head to our Get in touch page and let us know who has jumped out at you! Unlike sponsorship, adopting a WH sentient requires a fair bit more from the adoptee, where the animal/s will be taken off site rather than remaining under the care of the sanctuary. We require an extensive background check before confirming any adoptions, so if you are interested please feel free to take a look at our Adoption requirements to see if you could be applicable. Please note that adoptions come at a varying fee depending on the animal, so if you have read through our Adoption requirements and feel you are fit for adopting a WH sentient, please Get in touch to find out more.
