WH HEAVEN
2017 - Our beautiful favourite grew her wings. Forever missed, never forgotten. We think she was 37, bless her.
Gorgeous 'wild child', WH Heaven, having turned 36yrs of age this year, has had her remaining teeth checked and treated by the divine Benita Thomson recently.
We are so privileged to have Benita - who really 'gets' the oldies. Heaven's front teeth are, not surprisingly, worn way down, and her other teeth, are fairly few in number. There are two loose molars, which, in a younger horse, we would get sedated, and Benita would remove.
Sedation is a very risky option in a pony as frail as Heaven, so Benita worked on her, to improve her bite, putting less chewing pressure on these loose teeth - which should fall out on their own accord, but could certainly be causing a bit of discomfort as she chews, which we had noticed of late.
Her new improved bite, will hopefully help her, and may Mother Nature be kind in releasing her from these two teeth.
Tynisha, Carolyn's 7 yr old, asked if Heaven will get a visit from the Tooth Fairy when they fall out! I wonder if she will!
Heaven continues to be our most challenging senior to feed. She will not tolerate damp feeds, so chews her way through Gumnuts and Hygain Honey Bee (& chaff); which is frustrating for her human carers, but it is her call, so we aim to please!
We have tried nearly every combination known to man and beast, and madam Heaven is extremely stubborn.

November 2013: Miss WH Heaven, in the laneway yesterday. This lady (34 yrs now), with so few teeth, challenges us with feeding, so her weight gain has been painfully slow.
She goes through phases of liking/hating gumnuts, molasses, Stockgain, microbarley etc, & prefers only one 'hard' feed per day.
Sigh. So here she is, lighter than we would prefer, but happy, sparky & enjoying company.
We have opted to leave her very long mane, very long- it suits her so much, & we feel it is her mane of glory!
